With the Academy Awards set for Feb. 9th, take a few minutes to focus on the five films nominated for Best Documentary Feature. Two films are available to watch in full on Netflix, a third is available via PBS online.
“Honeyland” is a documentary about life in Macedonia (north of Greece), and honey-gathering. It was also the most-awarded film at last year’s Sundance Film Festival.
“American Factory” is available on Netflix. It’s about a Chinese company that built and ran a factory in Michigan. It was produced by Participant Media and Higher Grounds Productions, a company owned by the Barack and Michelle Obama.
“The Cave” documents sad, difficult times inside a sheltered hospital in war-ravaged Syria.
“The Edge of Democracy” is available now on Netflix. It’s about politics in Brazil as seen through the life of one woman.
“For Sama” is available to watch in its entirety online via Frontline. It is the story of a child born into war-ravaged Syria.
