An Interview with Lawrence Wright, Author of ‘Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood and the Prison of Belief’

Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Lawrence Wright talks about his book, “Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the Prison of Belief,” now an HBO documentary by Alex Gibney. Wright conducted over 200 interviews of current and former members of the Church of Scientology for the book.

Wright goes into some of the details of the inner workings of the Church of Scientology, including how the church pursues celebrities (Tom Cruise, John Travolta) and uses them to further the church’s mission/goals. Wright also focuses on Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard and David Miscavige, Hubbard’s successor.
