Robert Beck, also known as Iceberg Slim, is the man who started it all. He took black culture, wrote it down, with the help of his wife, and turned it into commercial success. Like many black artists, Slim didn’t receive fair royalty payments for his work. But what he accomplished was much more powerful. He built the foundation for Rap and Hip-Hop. This documentary is a flashy, colorful trip into the life of one of America’s most important authors.
