Bob Newhart was the subject of a few documentaries, including the features Bob Newhart: The Last Sane Man… (part of the series Biography) and Bob Newhart (part of the series American Masters). More easily found and much shorter is Bob and Don: A Love Story. Directed by Judd Apatow, this 21-minute doc produced by The New Yorker is focused on Newhart’s friendship with fellow comedian Don Rickles.

Not only does it have the distinction of featuring Newhart in one of his last screen appearances but it’s also a sweet and funny look back over this unexpected bond between two very different kinds of comics. (Source: Nonfics Newsletter)
