Biography Aspiring Country Star Herbie Howell Arrives in 1969 Nashville Aspiring singer-songwriter 26-year-old Herbie Howell drove from Georgia to Nashville to attend a country music convention and hopefully perform for the right people. He found what he was looking for. He was able to play for well-known record producer Shelby Singleton. Howell had written 15 songs by this point of his life.
