Albert Maysles in Transit from Greg Vander Veer on Vimeo.
Albert Maysles, half of the one of the best ever documentary production teams, the Maysles brothers, explains in this clip the impetus behind his solo film “In Transit.” When he was drafted into the Army in 1944, the image of his family members watching his train leave the station, they could not see him, but he could see them, and not knowing if they’d ever see Albert again, that image remained with him all his life and became the inspiration for his final documentary.
